6TH GRADE: NAME DESIGN
6th grade began their half of the year in art by creating name designs for their art folders. Students chose an object that represented them or something that they liked. They fit their name inside of the object an added patterns to the drawing. The goal was to create a drawing that showed contrast. They achieved this by creating equal amounts of areas black and white within their designs. Their creativity shined in this project!!
4TH GRADE: WATERCOLOR SHOES
4th grade students learned that many artist's loved to draw shoes. These artist's include Vincent Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein and Grant Wood. Student began by doing observational drawings of their own shoes. Watercolors were added in the background by using the wet-on-wet technique and for theri shoes they used the wet-on-dry technique. Fantastic job 4th grade!!
3RD GRADE: WATERCOLOR EXPLORATION
Students were learning all about watercolor through this free exploration lesson. Student were shown the wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and crayon resist techniques and then were free to paint! After they painted, they looked for cool shapes made by the flowing watercolors. The found shapes were outlined with a thin black Sharpie. The result was some pretty cool abstract art!
3RD GRADE: PANAMA MOLAS
3rd graders learned about Molas in art class. Molas are brightly colored fabric pieces that are sewn onto clothing in Panama as decoration. The fabric is stitched together in layers to created colored line patterns. Most molas have subjects such as animals and nature. Students chose their subject and got to work on theses beautiful pieces.
2ND GRADE: STARRY NIGHT
Students began this exciting lesson by visiting Google Art Project, an online virtual tour of many art museums. They were able to look at the painting, The Starry Night, close enough to see all the brush strokes that Vincent Van Gogh used!! After this, students were eager to get started on their own version of the famous painting. Students used liquid watercolor, construction paper crayons and paper to make these amazing pieces of art!
