6TH GRADE: 1 PT PERSPECTIVE NIGHT CITISCAPE
Before this lesson students practiced making 3D basic shapes by using a horizon line and a vanishing point. For this lesson they were creating a city at night from a birds-eye-view perspective.
They began by drawing 4-5 shapes above and below their horizon line. Then they drew lines from the edges of the shapes to the vanishing point to create their buildings and skyscrapers.
After their buildings were drawn in pencil, they outlined them with Gel Markers and construction paper crayons which work great on black paper. This gave their city a night time look. They also added details- windows, patterns, helicopter landing pads- to their buildings.
Here are some finished cities!
