4TH GRADE: WATERCOLOR SHOES

4th grade students learned that many artist's loved to draw shoes. These artist's include Vincent Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein and Grant Wood. Student began by doing observational drawings of their own shoes. Watercolors were added in the background by using the wet-on-wet technique and for theri shoes they used the wet-on-dry technique. Fantastic job 4th grade!!

2ND GRADE: STARRY NIGHT

Students began this exciting lesson by visiting Google Art Project, an online virtual tour of many art museums. They were able to look at the painting, The Starry Night,  close enough to see all the brush strokes that Vincent Van Gogh used!! After this, students were eager to get started on their own version of the famous painting. Students used liquid watercolor, construction paper crayons and paper to make these amazing pieces of art! 1ST GRADE: KEITH HARING ACTION FIGURES

1st grade students learned all about about artist Keith Haring. Haring is from Pennsylvania and went to Kutztown University!! After college he went to New York City and got famous by doing his art on the walls in the subway. Students created their won Haring style action figures using bright paint and crayons.

1ST GRADE: ERIC CARLE MIXED-UP ANIMALS

1st grade learned about texture with the help of illustrator, Eric Carle!

 Students created crazy mixed-up animals that had parts from many animals. Students looked at illustrations from The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle to help with their own creation.

 Like Eric Carle, students gave their animals texture by doing texture rubbings on tissue paper.

 After the textures were created, they traced the shapes from their animals onto the tissue paper.

 The shapes were cut out and glued to their drawing.

The picture was finished with some crayon textures as well!

1ST GRADE: KANDINSKY LINE

 1st grade students looked at abstract art from artist Wassily Kadinsky to create their newest artwork.

They began by using liquid watercolor on rice paper to create beautiful designs.

 Next, students tore the rice paper into pieces and glued the pieces to a background.

 Lines were added next with black sharpie.

 It was finished with glitter!!!!

4th GRADE: OP ART

 4th grade students studied artwork by Op Artists Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely. Op Artists try to trick your eye and make it look like an optical illusion. Students loved looking at this style of art!!


They began by drawing the circle in pencil and then added curved lines so that it looks rounded or like a sphere.

 After the lines were drawn on the sphere, they drew a checkerboard background. The background made the sphere look like it was popping off of the page!

 Students chose a contrasting color to fill in every other square to create the checkerboard pattern. Neatness was encouraged.

Students finished by adding a shadow with artist charcoal to help pop the sphere off of the page.
