4TH GRADE: WATERCOLOR SHOES

4th grade students learned that many artist's loved to draw shoes. These artist's include Vincent Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein and Grant Wood. Student began by doing observational drawings of their own shoes. Watercolors were added in the background by using the wet-on-wet technique and for theri shoes they used the wet-on-dry technique. Fantastic job 4th grade!!

4TH GRADE: HAIR RAISING PATTERN

4TH GRADE: ORIGAMI

 4th grade had so much fun creating Origami Frogs!! Student learned that following and reading directions and patience are the key to successful Origami.

 Many symbols appear in Origami directions and it is important to learn what the symbols mean. Precise folding is also important while creating Origami.

 Students added personal touches.

4th GRADE: OP ART

 4th grade students studied artwork by Op Artists Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely. Op Artists try to trick your eye and make it look like an optical illusion. Students loved looking at this style of art!!


They began by drawing the circle in pencil and then added curved lines so that it looks rounded or like a sphere.

 After the lines were drawn on the sphere, they drew a checkerboard background. The background made the sphere look like it was popping off of the page!

 Students chose a contrasting color to fill in every other square to create the checkerboard pattern. Neatness was encouraged.

Students finished by adding a shadow with artist charcoal to help pop the sphere off of the page.

4TH GRADE: RADIAL NAME DESIGNS/ROY G BIV

 4th grade students learned about Radial Design and Symmetry as well as ROY G BIV during this lesson. ROY G BIV is the order of the colors of the rainbow. The rainbow helps students understand how light mixes to create all the colors.

 Students began the lesson by creating a triangle with their name in bubble or block letters. Then they folded a square piece of paper into 8 sections. The triangle was placed under the thin white paper and traced to create a radial design.

After the design was drawn the student colored in the letters of their name in the ROY G BIV color order.

The finished design was then framed on a color paper of their choice!

4TH GRADE: VAN GOGH LINE DRAWINGS

After watching a video about Vincent van Gogh, students chose one of the many van Gogh prints that I have in my art room to copy. They began by sketching with chalk on black paper.

After the sketch came the hard part- filling their paper with many tiny lines in the style of van Gogh!

They looked at the print very closely to pick out all of the colors that van Gogh used in his paintings.




All I can say is WOW! There were so many great interpretations of van Gogh's work!!! AWESOME JOB 4TH GRADE!!!
