3RD GRADE: PASTEL PUMPKIN STILL-LIFE

 

 Students began by sketching the still-life with white chalk on black paper.

 They made sure to add curved lines to help the pumpkin look real.

 Glue was added over the chalk lines. When the glue dried, it helped keep the shape of the pumpkins and gourds.

 Student used chalk pastels to color their artwork.

 Students were encouraged to use at least 2 colors on each object to help show the light and dark areas on the objects. They turned out beautifully!!!

2ND GRADE: TEXTURED LIZARDS

 Students learned about lizards and that they like to live where it is hot! They also learned how to draw them!! First students used line and shape to create their lizards body, head, eyes, legs and toes!

 Students learned that artist can show texture on a flat piece of paper by repeating various lines. They gave their lizards lots of cool texture!!

 Next, students colored them in with bright colors! A colorful background was added with lines to show that the lizard was moving!

1ST GRADE: KANDINSKY LINE

 1st grade students looked at abstract art from artist Wassily Kadinsky to create their newest artwork.

They began by using liquid watercolor on rice paper to create beautiful designs.

 Next, students tore the rice paper into pieces and glued the pieces to a background.

 Lines were added next with black sharpie.

 It was finished with glitter!!!!

4th GRADE: OP ART

 4th grade students studied artwork by Op Artists Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely. Op Artists try to trick your eye and make it look like an optical illusion. Students loved looking at this style of art!!


They began by drawing the circle in pencil and then added curved lines so that it looks rounded or like a sphere.

 After the lines were drawn on the sphere, they drew a checkerboard background. The background made the sphere look like it was popping off of the page!

 Students chose a contrasting color to fill in every other square to create the checkerboard pattern. Neatness was encouraged.

Students finished by adding a shadow with artist charcoal to help pop the sphere off of the page.

1ST GRADE MIRO FANTASY FIGURES

 1st grade students learned about Spanish artist Joan Miro. Miro's paintings were full of mystical figures, magical symbols and color. Students created their figure by looking at a few of Miro's paintings to get inspiration for their own artwork.


Students used geometric and free form shape as well as various lines to create their unique figure. Magical symbols such as stars, the moon, and the sun as well as lines were added to the background.









Students added color to their artwork to make it bright and bold like Miro.

The artwork was finished with an embellished frame.

2ND GRADE: PICASSO PORTRAITS

 2nd grade learned about Spanish artist Pablo Picasso! They were very excited to learn about this very famous artist! Students learned that one of Picasso's favorite subjects to paint are portraits. But, not just any portrait. He used his signature style of Cubism to make his paintings abstract. Picasso would often paint both the front view and profile of a person at the same time! 2nd graders began by drawing an abstract head and nose in profile. The colored in the parts and cut out and glued the head to a contrasting background.

Next, students drew, cut out and glued eyes, ears, mouths, hair and whatever else they could think of to their head.
